OxLoc Delivering Solutions for Un-powered Assets
On 17th March 2003, OxLoc Ltd announced the launch of the Asset Alert for monitoring condition and location of goods in transit and advising the customer of any problems by a text or e-mail alert. The autonomous tag is self powered with its own battery and can be located easily on an asset or container without expensive installation.
Asset Alert is aimed at Intermodel transportation, containers and wagons and uses a number of external sensors to detect conditions such as temperature, relative humidity and can even record vibration and impact. Keith Dobson, OxLoc's CEO, said: "By working within specific industry sectors, OxLoc has been able to ensure that their solution is developed to meet the industry needs - particularly focusing on portability, external sensor support, low power consumption and data retrieval."
To extend their reach, OxLoc have extended the system to include tri-band operation for coverage across the US. Susan Fox, OxLoc's Marketing Manager, said: "OxLoc believe that this new device will open up new thinking and will provide solutions to reduce operating costs and provide value added services to the customers of transportation companies."
OxLoc believe that the success of the Asset Alert will result from customisation to individual business needs and they are already in discussion with major logistics and transportation companies. The modular design of the product has allowed flexibility across a range of cargo business models on a global basis. Knowing what is happening and where it is happening will soon become a necessary requirement for both transportation and shipping companies and for their customers. Knowing what is happening to goods inside the box rather than only knowing about the box is the future for the OxLoc Asset Alert.
